Our particular Shamburger family is located in Alabama!
The Shamburger families are spread across the South. Our particular family has primary relational roots with the Shamburgers, the Seviers, and the Bogans. We are descended from Elijah Shamburger, who immigrated to the USA, entering through North Carolina. We are also descendants of Captain Robert Sevier, brother of General John Sevier, the first Governor of Tennessee. Through the lineage of my grandmother we are descendants of the Bogans from Ireland, who also entered America in North Carolina.
We are proud Revolutionary War descendants through multiple ancestors and are members of the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR). Captain Robert Sevier was mortally wounded at the Battle of King’s Mountain. Another relative, Captain Patrick Bogan, was Captain of a Light Horse Company in the Anson County Regiment in North Carolina. My wife’s family has a rich heritage through the Tanner and Holland families, but we’ll save that story for another time!
